chillin' with the illness...

21jan08, Kenyon Street at 11th, Washington DC:

Clearly, neurological diseases get no respect in Columbia Heights. It looks like the city is running wild with neuropathologist gangstas with a score to settle...

Sure, you may laugh now, but when you start seeing graffiti tags like BIOPSY BOYZ, you'll call me a prophet...

MS = Mara Salvatrucha aka a huge, dangerous and pervasive Latin American gang.

yeh, that figures. I'm probably more familiar with the names Mara or MS-13, so it didn't click at first.

But the idea of seeing a gang of balding old farts in white labcoats, joyriding through the 'Heights and venting their disrespect for Multiple Sclerosis was just too weird to resist.

Hey man, just stumbled upon this blog today and noticed you have a Six Organs of Admittance link. You going to the show on Thursday? Also, I'm not sure about Boyd Rice for President, that dude is kinda fucking nuts. Although I randomly did see him on some History Channel special as an "expert" talking about the descendants of Jesus or some shit like that. How far we've come from the World Serpent days... Anywho, this blog is great, keep it up.

Thanks, Ivan...
I just found out about the Six Organs show and will try like hell to get down there. I've been grabbing at any of Ben Chasny's music that I can find; I love the Comets on Fire albums, but Six Organs is beyond phenomenal. The folksy stuff, the raga stuff, the wall-of-noise stuff, all of it.

As for Boyd Rice, he's a damn-sight better public speaker than Bushy, I'll say that. Is America ready for a Social Darwinism Party? hmm...

at least he'd be honest, right?

Yeah you should definitely come out tomorrow night. I've seen Six Organs twice now, a spectacular solo set in Chicago 5 or so years ago and a full band set at Iota a year ago in DC, both times were very much worthwhile.

I ran into Chasny in Chicago during the Wire fest and he related some hilarious anecdotes about touring with C93. Apparently Stapleton and Tibet bicker like little girls.

Anyway, let me know if you end up going tomorrow, it's always nice to meet someone who's into this shit in DC.
